Ancient Coinage of Serdica, Thrace



Serdica (modern day Sofia), named after the Celtic tribe Serdi was conquered by the Romans in ca 29 BC and renamed Ulpia Serdica. It became a municipium during the reign of Trajan, 98-117 AD.
