Ancient Coinage of Thrace, Plotinopolis

Plotinopolis (modern day Didimochito) built by Trajan for his wife Plotina, is on a hill about 100 km NW of Alexandroupolis. The ruins of the town were found by chance during building work in the 1960s and since then has been an important archaeological site, more and more of the town being uncovered every year.
