Ancient Coinage of Syria, Laodikeia Ad Mare

In its 4,000 year history Laodicea ad Mare (modern day Latakia) has been part of the empires of the Phoenicians, Assyrians, Greeks, Seleukids and Romans (who extended the name to Laodicea ad Mare). Herod, king of Judaea, provided the city with an aquaduct, the remains of which can still be seen.
