AR Siliqua of THEODOSIUS I $79.00 11/28/99 Coin was minted between 388-392 AD at Lugdunum (Lyon) for Theodosius I, 379-395 AD. Obverse features the diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Theodosius facing right, with legends D.N.THEODOSIVS.P.F.AVG. The reverse features Roma seated left on throne, holding Victory and spear, with legends VRBS.ROMA., and mint/oficina mark LVGPS in the exergue. Coin shows an obverse flan flaw at K-1 of the obverse, but otherwise grades a nice VF, with clear to bold devices and legends all around, and attractive original colour. A nice example of this scarce silver type of Theodosius, catalogued as RIC 43d; RSC 72 b.
