R66 Severus Alexander, AD 222-235, AE sestertius (20.22 g), AD $375 231-235. Obv: Laureate head right with slight drapery on shoulder. Rev: Spes advancing left holding flower, lifting hem of skirt. RIC 648. If so inclined, one may count the hairs on the emperor's head and face. The obverse exhibits only the merest hint of wear whereas the reverse has wear only on the figure's highest points.
