Hadrian, AE24 of Hadriani? (or Tium), Bithynia. ..ADRIANOC CEB, laureate head right. (from top right) TYXH ADRIANWN (or TYXH TIANWN), Tyche standing left, holding rudder and cornucopiae. There are not many cities this could come from, because of the period during which the legend was used. Bithynia seems to be the only region which struck coins during the time of Antoninus Pius/ Marcus Aurelius - the other areas generally used the name TYXH only from about Caracalla onwards. Another thing is the relatively short city name, if the size of the letters is constant, and the legend is balanced left- right, as it appears to be, the city name can only have 6-8 letters. So I have a feeling that this coin is from Bithynia, but is not listed for Hadrian (not in BMC, Waddington, Mionnet, Weber, Isegrim, SNG Cop, - von Aulock, - Turkey, RecGen etc.) Contributed by John Aiello, June 2013. 50. _bithynia JA
