Hadrian PADUAN COPY of AE Sestertius. 132-134 AD. Obv: HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, bare-headed, draped bust right Rev: FELICITATI AVG (on sail), COS III P P SC below, galley travelling right with oarsmen and steersman, standard and vexilium at stern, Neptune standing right, holding sceptre, on the prow. RIC 705; Cohen 710. With permission of TimeLine Auctions (www.timelineauctions.com), Jun, 2017 Most sellers incorrectly misattribute their Hadrian/galley coins with the FELICITATI AVG legend. The important characteristic of RIC 705 is that those words are on the sail and COS III P P SC are below. Despite ploughing through over 50 online sales, catalogs and databases, I have not seen one single correctly attributed RIC 705 ! For this reason I am using this Paduan copy. Lawrence 47; Montigny 45. Copying the original (with different number of oarsmen): RIC 705; Cohen II, 710.
