Constantine II, AE4. Antioch. 337-348 AD CONSTAN-TINVS AVG, pearl diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right. GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS, , two soldiers holding spears and shields with one standard between them. Wide X on banner; dot to upper left and right of banner. Mintmark: SMANS RIC VIII Antioch 51 var (banner decoration). Contributed by Pete Clegg (biffabacon10), September, 2011 Notes: The obverse legend, clearly with CONSTAN-TINVS.., the bust type, the small dots to the upper left and right of the banner, only two badges on the mast and the (SM)ANS mintmark clearly point to this as being RIC VIII Antioch 51, yet the banner has a clear wide X pattern instead of the usual dot or o. The X pattern on the banner makes this coin an unrecorded variety of RIC VIII Antioch 51.
