Carausius. Uncertain British mint, AE silvered antoninianus. 23mm. IMP C CARAVSIVS P AVG, radiate, draped bust right (IOVI ST)ATORI, Jupiter, standing facing, head left, holding thunderbolt in left hand and sceptre in right. No field marks or mint mark. Ref: RIC V-2, 815 var, uncertain British mint (obv. legend). Rare. RIC describes Jupiter as standing left, whereas on this coin he is clearly standing facing with head left. Found in England by metal detectorist Toby Phillips, submitted to PAS and recorded under no. HAMP-7BDFC7, PAS finds database 296712. Now in Dane's collection, Feb. 2011.
