Augustus as Octavian, AE26 of an uncertain mint in Cilicia or Syria. Bare head to right. Spear, sella quaestoria (seat) and fiscus; Q below. RPC I 5409; ; AMNG II 29 (Pella) note; FITA 13-19 (Thessalonica?). An enigmatic issue, variously attributed to Brutus, Octavian or the governor of Syria, Gaius Sosius and to Macedonia. The Q beneath the image on the reverse often denotes an issue by a quaestor. The attribution to Cilicia or Syria is based on the find spots.
