            Augustus. (27 BC-14 AD). Silver denarius (3.79 gm). Spain, c. 17 BC. 
            CAESAR AVGVSTVS, head left wearing oak wreath / DIVVS – IVLIVS 
            across field, comet with eight rays and tail. BMCRE 326. CBN 1298. 
            Cohen 97. RIC 37b. Extrememly fine. 

            A comet that appeared in summer 44 BC was held to signal Julius 
            Caesar’s ascension to the heavens. The memory of Caesar’s 
            deification was revived in connection with Augustus’ Saecular Games 
            of 17 BC.
