Antoninus Pius, AR denarius, ancient imitation. IMP TR EL CES ANTONINVS, bare head right. (for IMP T AEL CAES HADR ANTONINVS). COS IIII, Vesta standing left, holding patera over altar, and Palladium. Early obv. legend of Pius as Caesar under Hadrian with RIC 220/229b/238/243 reverse. 1) The obverse legend is incorrectly spelled. 2) The correct versions of this reverse image with COS IIII did not use use the ..T AEL legend. 3) the hairlines are too simply engraved and the general "look" of the face on the coin in hand is just not right. 4) the flames of the altar are engraved as three short lines instead of a flame 5) the figure of the Palladium is partially totally separated as though the engraver did not know what it should represent.
