KINGS of AXUM (Aksum). MHDYS. Circa 400-450 AD. Æ 16mm (0.83 gm). "MHDYS King of Aksum" (in Ge'ez), draped bust right wearing headcloth, flanked by grain ears / "By This Cross He Will Conquer" (in Ge'ez), cross potent; the interior of the cross gilt. Munro-Hay 70; BMC Aksum 293. Near VF, some earthen patina.
The exact name of the king called "MHDYS" on his coins is unknown.
