Jane Grey, modern gold-plated silver (925) medallion. 21.6 mm, 4.38g. JANE 1553, crowned head facing slightly left, wearing necklace. Coat of arms of the Grey family with lion rampant left. Modern issue by the "Danbury Mint", as part of a 70- medallion set, featuring 70 kings and queens of England. Often offered on ebay at massively inflated prices by dishonest sellers, who describe them as "rare pattern gold sovereigns", in the hope that stupid, gullible or greedy buyers will pay silly money for them. A genuine official pattern sovereign would be worth many thousands of pounds, however no coins at all were struck for Jane Grey.
