Aethelred II, 978-1016 AD. Last Small Cross type. 

Central circle, diademed and draped bust left within; + EDELRED REX AN around. 
+ PVFNOD MODEOD, Small cross pattee, with similar smaller 
cross at each end. 

Very rare variety with 4 small crosses around central cross. 
Sharp strike on a full flan of excellent metal. Fairly light 
silvery to smoky toning. A gem! NGC graded MS-62. 
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.
