            BC. Young diademed head right/ Athena standing left holding Nike 
            right, spear and shield on right. Sear sg7297, BMC 20.33,2.  17.73 
            mm.  3.8 gm. Near Very Fine.  Appealing in hand.  Attractive 
            portrait with the Hellenistic upward gaze that would be imitated by 
            Constantine I centuries later. 

            Ariarathes IX was the son and general of Mithradates the Great, who 
            placed his son on the throne of Cappadocia, against the will of both 
            the Romans and the Cappodocians.
