Description Flavius Claudius Constantinus was the eldest son of Constantine I (the great) and Fausta. He was born in A.D. 314, and received the title Caesar already in A.D. 317, three years old. He did an successful campaign against the Goths at the age of 18. Upon the death of Constantine I, the empire was divided between Constantine II and his younger brother Constans. He got in charge of the western part, Spain, Gallia and Britannia. He tried to take the southern part of the Empire from Constans, without success. He was killed in an ambush near Aquilea in A.D. 340.
