                       CONSTANTINE I: A.D. 307 - 337

   Constantine I "the Great" installed Christianity as the official State
    religion and installed the bishop of Rome (the pope) in the Lateran
    Palace (today's Vatican). He also executed Crispus, his own son, on
  suspicion of treason. Discovering that his jealous second wife, Fausta,
   manufactured the evidence, he had her boiled to death, like a lobster.
