                                Description

     This coin is a rarer reverse type Sestertius of the emperor
     Volusian (251-253AD). The coin has a decent portrait and grades
     about Fine. This is a good budget example of a Volusian
     sestertius that lists for L150 in Sear's Roman Coins and their
     Values in VF. The obverse shows his laureate bust right with the
     legend "IMP CAE C VIB VOLUSIANO AUG". The reverse shows Juno
     seated facing in circular temple of two columns with the legend
     "IUNONI MARTIALIS S C". Small area of encrustation on obverse
     does not detract, some smoothing in fields. Mottled patina
     green/black. Bidding starts at $10 with a low reserve. Winning
     bidder pays $2 S&H. Personal checks OK but must clear.
