                        217. AV aureus (7.29 gm).

                        ROMAN EMPIRE: Julia Domna (wife of Septimius Severus). 
                        Gold aureus (7.29 gm). Rome, AD 197. IVLIA AVGVSTA, 
                        draped bust right / IVNO REGINA, Juno standing left, 
                        holding patera and scepter, peacock at feet. BMCRE 42 
                        note. Cohen 96 (Paris, 200 Fr.). RIC 560 (R2). Rare: 
                        only seven specimens included in C. Clay's unpublished 
                        1972 die study. Good extremely fine 

                        This aureus is from the same dies as two other 
                        specimens, one in Copenhagen, the other in Hannover (= 
                        Hess-Leu, 4 April 1963, lot 212).
