Description This piece was minted during the reign of Trajan, who ruled from 98-117 AD. The empire reached its greatest geographic extent under Trajan, the direct result of his many military triumphs. The obverse of this type depicts the laureate bust of Trajan facing right, seen from behind, with legends IMP.CAES.NER.TRAIANO.OPTIMO.AVG.GER.DAC.P.M.TR.P.COS.V or VI. The legends GER.DAC. refer to his German and Dacian triumphs. The reverse type features Felicitas standing left, holding cornucopiae and caduceus, with legends SPQR.OPTIMO.PRINCCIPI.SC. Coin grades F/VG, with clear devices, a bold portrait, and most obverse legends visible. Only a few letters of the reverse legend are readable, including the SC. There are also a couple of obverse cut marks, as seen in the scan. Still a decent example of the type, with a solid portrait for the grade. Buyer pays postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA residents please add appropriate sales tax. MC/Visa accepted for orders of $20 or more.
