                          Republic Valeria 12 Denarius

      Attribution:
      Moneyer C. Valerius Flaccus as Imperator, Valeria 12, minted c. 82
      BC

      Obverse :
      Bust of Victory right, symbol (flower?) behind.

      Reverse :
      'C. VAL. FLA. IMPERAT.' Legionary eagle between 2 standards
      inscribed 'H' (Hastari) and 'P' (Principes), 'EX - SC' between.

      Grade :
      EF/gVF

      Notes :
      This coin was minted for the cohorts that accompanied Flaccus to
      Spain and Gaul. To do so, Flaccus received special permission (EX -
      SC) from the Senate.

      Another superb denarius minted by a Roman Republic Imperator. This
      coin features a very high relief obverse with good style and plenty
      of detail. The reverse also has good style and moderately high
      relief, but as you can see is partially off center. If the centering
      were better the coin would grade a solid EF.
