This piece was minted circa 87 BC, under the authority of the moneyer L. Rubrius Dossenus. The obverse of the type shows the veiled head of Juno facing right, with a sceptre and the legend DOS behind. The reverse type features a triumphal chariot traveling right, with a small Victory standing atop it, with the legends L.RVBRI. in the exergue. The bust of Juno represents one of the three divinities of the Capitol, and the reverse chariot represents the solemn entry of her chariot on the occurrence of the public games. Coin is struck on a slightly smallish flan, but otherwise grades AVF, with clear devices and nearly complete legends visible. A nice example of this scarcer type, catalogued as Rubria 2.
