                                Description

     This piece was minted circa 48 BC, under the authority of the
     moneyer L. Hostilius Saserna. The obverse type depicts the
     laureate head of Venus or Pietas right. The reverse type features
     Victory walking right, holding trophy and caduceus, with legends
     L.HOSTILIVS.SASERNA. Coin shows one banker's mark on the obverse,
     and some reddish patina, but otherwise grades F/AF, with mostly
     clear devices and more than half of the legend visible. A decent
     and affprdable example of this scarcer type, catalouged as
     Hostilia 5. Buyer pays postage/insurance, coin shipped on
     clearance of funds. PA residents please add appropriate sales
