                                Description

     This piece was minted circa 41 BC under the authority of the
     moneyer C.Clodius C.f.Vestalis. The obverse type depicts the bust
     of Flora right, with legends C.CLODIVS.C.F. around. The reverse
     features the Vestal Virgin Claudia Quinta seated left, holding
     bowl with two handles (cymbium). The legend VESTALIS appears
     behind her. The obverse refers to the Ludi Florales, organized by
     an ancestor in 240 BC. The reverse refers to the vestal Claudia
     Quinta, who transported the image of Cybele from Pessinus to
     Rome. The image shown on the coin is a representation of the
     statue erected by the Senate in her honour. Coin grades F, with
     clear devices and all legends visible. A very decent and
     affordable example of this scarcer type, catalouged as Claudia
