                                Description

     I purchased this coin over 15 years ago from a dealer who had
     bought an estate. He sold it to me cheaply, because he didn't
     want to take the time to identify it. According to "Roman Silver
     Coine" by Seaby Pub. (middle of p. 28, 1978 edition), this is
     Carisia 1a. The obverse has Juno Moneta's head with "MONETA"
     behind (I believe it is 1a because of the lock of hair falling
     down the neck). The reverse has the inscription "T. Carisius,"
     over Vulcan's cap. Vulcan's cap is above a an anvil, tongs and a
     hammer. I am not really a collector of ancient coins and have no
     idea about the grade. Hopefully the scan will help you out. If
     you'd like a better scan, email me and I'll have another one made
     at higher resolution. Bidding will start at $1.00, no reserve. If

     On 08/19/99 at 20:30:54 PDT, seller added the following
     information:

     Due to an email request (the large scan was fuzzy) I have added
     two additional scans for reference. Someone else also emailed
     asking about the size. I accidently deleted the email before I
     could answer-- it is approximately 17-18mm.
