                                Description

     This piece was minted circa 67 BC under the authority of the
     moneyer C.Piso L.f. Frugi. The obverse type depicts the laureate
     head of Apollo with fillet facing right, with symbol behind. The
     reverse features a horseman galloping right, holding palm, with
     legend C.PISO.L.F.FRV. and the number X below. This moneyer was
     the son of L.Piso Frugi, and adopted for his coins the type used
     by his father. C.Piso married Tullia, the daughter of Cicero, in
     63 BC, and was appointed quaestor in 58 BC. Coin shows some dark
     patina, but otherwise grades F+, with clear devices and legends
     all around, and an interesting high relief portrait of Apollo. A
     nice example of the type, catalouged as Calpurnia 24. All coins
     guaranteed genuine without limitations. Buyer pays
     postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA
