Date : 211 to 206 BC. Reference : Sear 1211 Size : 19.7 x 20.2 mm. Weight : 5.72 grams. Grade : F/VF but cleaned and slightly rough. Obverse : Head of Mercury right, wearing the winged petausus, with two pellets above. Reverse : Prow of a Galley, with a corn ear above, KA monogram to the right, and ROMA below. This type lacks the two pellets as a denomination mark on the reverse that most other types have. David Sear comments that the type is probably minted in Sicily and that the KA monogram may be a mint mark for the city of Catana.
