Obv: Head of Mercury r., two pellets behind. Rev: Prow r., grain ear, ROMA above; two pellets below. 42/3. EF/VF. Towards the close of the 3rd century BC the Roman coinage finally came into line with that of the Greek world. The unwieldy aes grave units were given over to conventional struck coins in gold, silver and bronze. The example here is artistically excellent and has a beautiful original patina. Early bronzes in such high grade are not easy to find.
