                                Description

     This piece was minted circa 49 BC under the authority of the
     moneyer Man. Acilius Glabrio. The obverse type depicts the
     laureate head of Salus facing right, with legend SALVTIS reading
     downwards. The reverse type features Valetudo (Salus) standing
     left, leaning against column and holding serpent, with ligatured
     legends MN.ACILIVS.III.VIR.VALETV. Coin shows a few banker's
     marks, with a bit of flattening on the reverse, but otherwise
     grades F+/F, with mostly clear devices and legends. A very decent
     example of this scarcer type, catalouged as Acilia 8a. Buyer pays
     postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA
