RIC 126a. Cohen 115 (50 Fr.). An unusually heavy specimen, about 25% overweight. Dark green-brown patina. Extremely fine/good very fine The average weight of Decius' double sestertii is about 38 gm (Callu, Politique mon€taire, p. 131). Of fifty-one weights of such coins quoted from published catalogues by Bastien (Monnayage de bronze de Postume, p. 26, note 67), only one is heavier than the present specimen (50.46 gm), and one about equal (47.48 gm).
