RIC 48, Sear (1988) 569 Obv.: "CIVITATIBVS ASIAE RESTITVTIS" Tiberius seated left, holding patera and scepter.. Rev.: "TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVST PM TR POT XXIIII" around large "SC". A very interesting coin from a historical standpoint. The obverse legend refers to Tiberius' donations and tax remissions to twelve Asian cities devastated by an earthquake in 17 A.D., and another two cities which suffered an earthquake in 23 A.D. It is interesting to note that while Tiberius was despised by the Roman nobility, the provinces were considered to have prospered under his rule. The coin itself is fairly worn, but the central devices are all present, as are a large part of the legends. This coin is a decent, thus affordable, example of a fairly rare and historical type. As always, all coins are unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic as described. Also, if you are not satisifed with your purchase, return it within ten days for a full refund.
