  Cilicia, Aegeae. Severus Alexander. 222-235 AD. Æ 20mm (4.73 gm). Struck year 275
  (228/229 AD). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / Goat leaping right, O/C in
  fields; all within wreath. Cf. SNG Levante 1756 (obv. die only); SNG Paris -; SNG
  Copenhagen -; SNG von Aulock -; BMCLycaonia, etc. -; Mionnet III & Supp. VII -;
  Lindgren I & III -. VF, dark green patina. Rare, apparently unpublished. Estimate
  $125.



  The attribution of this coin to Aegeae is made possible by the existence of several
  goat reverses bearing an ethnic, and is solidified by a very similar reverse for
  Caracalla, cf. SNG Levante 1738.
