                             SEVERUS ALEXANDER

       SEVERUS ALEXANDER, 231-235 AD. AR denarius. FDC OBV: Laureate
     draped and cuirassed bust right. REV: Sol radiate, standing left,
               raising right hand and holding whip. RIC-112.

      SEVERUS ALEXANDERMarcus Aurelius Severus Alexander (222-235 AD).
     Adopted by his cousin Elagabalus as his heir. ruled from 222-235.
        He was a just and wise ruler, but was slain by some mutinous
     soldiers on his way to Germany to subdue a revolt. His mother was
         slain with him. He was probably 27 years of age at his death.
