AD. IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust 
right / P M TR P II COS P P, Jupiter standing left, holding 
thunderbolt and scepter. Calico 3088a (same reverse die). BMCRE 86 
var. Cohen 228. Mint state. 

This aureus is an obverse variant of BMCRE 86 and of Cohen 228, who 
cites the same BM coin. That coin has a draped bust only, not draped 
and cuirassed, and the obverse legend breaks above the head, whereas 
it is unbroken on the present specimen.
