Septimius Severus, Emesa mint, AR denarius. 174-175 AD. IMP CAE L (dot) SEP SEV PER AVG COS I, Laureate head right. FELICIT TEMPOR, Corn-ear between two cornucopiae. Ref: RIC 373 var Notes: RIC IV 373 var; BMCRE (V) unlisted var of p.91, 349. The correct obverse legend ends COS II. On this coin there is a small I after the COS on the shoulder. The second I is missing. COS I was not a possible title when this coin was made, so this must be an error rather than an intended variety. Contributed by Bill Welch, August 2009
