     Roman Empire. Septimius Severus w/Julia Domna. A.D. 193-211. AR
     Denarius. 1.892 grams. Rome 200-201. A.D. Obv. SEVERVS AVG. PART.
     MAX. Laureate head of emperor, r. Rv. IVLIA AVGVSTA; Head of
     Julia Domna r. RIC 112, 161(a). About VF and VERY RARE.

     Septimius Severus, a soldier of outstanding ability, spent much
     of his reign campaigning in different parts of the Empire and
     also visiting many of the provinces. After coming to Britain in
     A.D. 208, he repaired Hadrian's Wall, which had been partly
     destroyed. The strains of his campaigning, however, proved too
     much for the old emperor and he died at York on February 4th,
     211.
