Early Victory Denarius of SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS This piece was minted in 193 AD, during the first turbulent year of the reign of Septimius Severus, who ruled from 193-211 AD. This type depicts the laureate head of Septimius Severus facing right, with legends IMP.CAE.L.SEP.SEV.PERT.AVG. The reverse type features Victory walking left, holding wreath and palm, with legends VICT.AVG.TR.P.COS. Coin shows light surface granularity, and is a little off center, but otherwise grades F+, with clear devices and most legends visible. A nice yet affordable example of the type, a variety of RSC-682.
