Plautilla, the daughter of Septimius Severus' prime minister
Plautianus, had the misfortune of being bethrothed to Severus'
son Caracalla, a homicidal maniac who loathed her father and her.
Soon after their marriage, Caracalla arranged the murder of
Plautianus, striking the fatal blow himself. As soon as he became
sole Emperor, Caracalla had Plautilla exiled and slowly starved
to death.
