The letters LV on the reverse are an abbreviation for λvkiωn, indicating the Lycians with which the Apollonians had entered into an alliance. The allliance is celebrated on a large, quasi-autonomous, bronce issued during the reign of Caracalla and the abbreviation occurs on coins struck as late as under Gallienus.
