Rev. AEQUITAS AVGG S C, Aequitas standing left, holding scales and cornucaopiae. The coin is patinated black with a small, squarish flan. Legends are nearly full, but many letters are partially cut off by the flan, a few on the obverse almost completely. The reverse shows decent detail, but the surface is somewhat rough, and on the obverse the portrait is very nice. Philip caused Gordian III to be murdered, allowing him to assume the imperial throne, but Philip was in turn killed fighting against the future emperor Trajan Decius.
