                        ROMAN IMPERIAL. Nero (AD 54-68). Gold aureus (7.02 gm). 
                        Rome, AD 65-66. NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, head laureate 
                        right / IVPPITER CVSTOS, Jupiter seated left, holding 
                        thunderbolt and scepter. BMCRE 67. CBN 213. Cohen 118. 
                        RIC 52. Very good 

                        Ex Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, acquired in 1975 through 
                        the Theodora Wilbour Fund in Memory of Zoe Wilbour. 

                        The small portrait of this piece, reminiscent of the 
                        portraits on Nero's IANVM CLVSIT aurei and denarii, 
                        suggests an early date, soon after the introduction of 
                        the Jupiter reverse type in AD 65.
