Magnentius, AE3, Siscia. DN MAGNEN-TIVS P F AVG, bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust right; A behind bust. GLORIA ROMANORVM, Emperor on horse right, spearing enemy right, facing left; shield & broken spear on ground. Mintmark dot SIS star. Bought from an old collection. Courtesy of Asta Tintinna Numismatica and deamoneta.com, Jun, 2011 Not in RIC; Mionnet; LRBC; etc. Should be before RIC VIII 318. Note Coins of Magnentius from Siscia are rare and sought after. Magnentius occupied Siscia for only about a month before the battle of Mursa on 28 September 351 when Constantius II regained control of the town. There are numerous fakes of this coin around but this is doubtlessly the real thing, having been found in Italy many years ago.
