Macrinus RARE Gabala, Syria, Tetradrachm

    A VERY RARE TETRADRACHM!
    Macrinus, 217-218 AD, billon silver tetradrachm of  26 mm, 15.66 
    grams. Struck at the mint of Gabala in Syria.
    Obverse: Laureate bust right, a planchet defect (lamination?) near 
    the edge between 4 and 5 o'clock. 
    Reverse: Eagle, seen from front, wings spread, head left and wreath 
    in beak; between legs crescent over crab; in right field date palm.
