                  Lucius Verus Denarius - Scarce Reverse

           Attribution:
           RSC 339, minted 166 AD

           Obverse :
           His laureate head right. 'L. VERVS AVG. ARM. PARTH.
           MAX.'

           Reverse :
           Victory with turreted head, flying right holding a
           diadem in both hands. 'VICT. AVG. TR.P. VI COS. II'

           Grade :
           aVF/aVF

           Notes :
           Lucius Verus was born L. Ceionius Commodus in 130
           AD, the son of Aelius Caesar. He was adopted by
           Antoninus Pius as his possible heir and made
           co-emperor with Marcus Aurelius in 161 AD. Although
           an able general, he was greatly given to the more
           pleasurable side of life and died in 169 AD.

           His coins are considered moderately scarce and this
           reverse even more so. This coin features a very good
           portrait with good detail and nearly full
           inscriptions. The reverse is a little better with a
           nice depiction of Victory and full inscriptions.
