Description [Look at THIS!] [Look at THIS!] LUCILLA, Augusta -- As, SCARCE ----------------------------------------------------------------- On 11/10/98 at 18:48:00 PDT, seller added the following information: LUCILLA, Augusta 164-169 A.D. -- Annia Aurelia Galeria Lucilla was born into royalty, and married very well indeed. Lucilla was the daughter of Emperor Marcus Aurelius and Faustina the Younger. She married Lucius Verus, adopted brother of Aurelius (and Rome's first co-Emperor), thus becoming its first co-Empress. Years later, she had the good sense to plot against the maniacal Emperor Commodus, but the bad luck to be caught, and was put to death. This 25mm (1 inch diameter) As is thick, rather than broad, and well-centered, with a good portrait of Lucilla on the obverse, and Salus, goddess of Health on the reverse. It shows signs of its time buried underground, and like all coins of Lucilla, is scarce. It is not listed in Sear, but similar to #1587-1588, valued in 1988 at 60 pounds ($96.00 U.S.), if in Very Fine condition. ----------------------------------------------------------------- On 11/10/98 at 18:48:47 PDT, seller added the following information: The photographs above are NOT altered in any way - what you see is the exact coin you will receive from me. If you pay by bank check or money order, I will send your coin(s) as soon as I receive payment. If you pay by personal check, I may hold the coin until the funds clear (usually a week). Please do NOT send cash, for your own protection. I'll add $2.00 (sometimes $3.00 for valuable shipments, or more for addresses outside the United States). This covers my packaging, shipping (via U.S. Mail), and insurance costs. All coins guaranteed genuine and as described, of course.
