Description ***Please be sure to follow the hyperlinks below to CNG's new postage rates for all online sales*** [Image] Lucilla, wife of Lucius Verus. Died 182 AD. AR Denarius (2.88 gm). Draped bust right / Vesta standing left by altar. RIC III 788 (Aurelius); RSC 92. VF, minor edge split. 712771. Lucilla was steeped in Roman royalty. She was the daughter of Marcus Aurelius, the wife of Lucius Verus, and the sister of Commodus, Emperors all. She apparently let her status go to her head; after Verus' death, her father married her off to an elderly Senator, and she stewed in frustration for many years before engaging in a plot to kill her brother and elevate her husband to the throne. Commodus had her exiled and executed. Lucilla was portrayed by the luscious Sophia Loren in the movie "Fall of the Roman Empire." The real Lucilla was not so admirable a character, and met a less sanguine fate. Authenticity unconditionally guaranteed - 14 day return privilege for any reason. CNG accepts for payment: check, money order or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express). The manner of payment accepted is subject to our qualification of the bidder. CNG's Domestic, Canadian, and International postage rates. Pennsylvania residents please add appropriate sales tax.
