                                Description

     This piece was minted in the name of Julia Maesa, the sister of
     Julia Domna and grandmother of Elagabalus and Severus Alexander.
     She was in large measure responsible for the rebellion which
     overthrew Macrinus and restored the Severan dynasty. She survived
     the assassination of Elagabalus and Julia Soaemias in 222 AD, and
     died about three years later, during the reign of Severus
     Alexander. The obverse of this piece depicts the draped bust of
     Julia Maesa facing right, with legends IVLIA.MAESA.AVG. The
     reverse features Pudicitia, veiled, seated left, raising veil and
     holding sceptre. The legend reads PVDICITIA. Coin grades Good VF,
     with bold devices and legends, and is struck on a nice large
     flan. A very pleasing example of the type, catalouged as RSC-36.
     All coins guaranteed genuine without limitations. Buyer pays
     postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA
