                        JULIA MAESA
     Grandmother of Elagabalus and Severus Alexander,
                  sister of Julia Domna.
       She was largely responsible for the rebellion
        which resulted in the overthrow of Macrinus
        and the restoration of the Severan Dynasty.
                Julia Maesa died in AD 225.

                 Obverse: IVLIA MAESA AVG
               Her draped bust to the right,
        her hair arranged in a bun behind the head.

                    Reverse: PIETAS AVG
               Pietas advancing to the left.
                    Altar at her feet.
