                        ROMAN EMPIRE: Julia Domna (wife of Septimius Severus, 
                        mother of Caracalla and Geta). AE sestertius (24.13 gm), 
                        struck under Septimius Severus and Caracalla, AD 198. 
                        Draped bust of Julia Domna right / CERES S-C, Ceres 
                        standing left, holding grain ears and long torch, 
                        lighted altar at feet. BMCRE (Severus) 764, pl. 46, 16. 
                        RIC (Severus) 848. Cf. C. 18. Hill 348. Glossy light 
                        brown patina. Lacquered. Pit in upper left reverse 
                        field. Very fine
